Anthon Beeke Collective
Anthon Beeke Collective bv
After graphic designer / photographer Anthon Beeke closed his studio in 2010 for health reasons, he decided in 2012 to set up a new studio for communication and graphic design together with Lidewij Edelkoort, Jeroen Jas, Sacha Happée and Mariola López Mariño: Anthon Beeke Collective. The idea of this virtual studio was expressed as follows:
“By acting together as a collective at certain moments and for varying periods, this group have together set up their own virtual studio that works in the spirit of Anthon Beeke. They focus on a committed mentality that does not avoid conflict, a clear and simple design and an autonomous approach that can generate an impact directly through its multimedia spread. The collective can be extended with other disciplines and other designers who contribute their knowledge and vision on a project basis.”
After his death in 2018, Lidewij Edelkoort, Sacha Happée and Mariola López Mariño continued the studio. The virtual character of the collective – without a studio, without ballast and without direct commercial necessity – will be continued. Lidewij Edelkoort and Mariola López Mariño have their own, flourishing agency with their own interesting cultural and commercial clients, but they also do projects for Anthon Beeke Collective. They specialize in designing visual culture, books and magazines, exhibitions, branding and cross media. Sacha Happée takes care of the management and contacts with the clients as before.
Various projects have been carried out in recent years, including the Kunstrai posters, the Fashion Biennale in Arnhem, Bloom Magazine and catalogue, signage and leaflets for the exhibition “La Manufacture: A Labour of Love” by curators Lidewij Edelkoort & Philip Fimmano in Lille, France.
Currently, work is being done on a photo book about 150 years of photography in Amsterdam. This website about Anthon Beeke, which is intended as a digital archive of his work and publications about him, has also been developed by AB / C.
It was Anthon’s wish that Anthon Beeke Collective would continue after his death.
We do so in his spirit, honoring his memory.
