Guerrilla campaign Adieu Anthon Beeke
Guerrilla campaign Adieu Anthon Beeke
During the cremation of Anthon Beeke on October 3, 2018, former employees of studio Anthon Beeke held a guerilla campaign by hanging a giant version of the controversial poster Troilus and Cressida that Anthon made for Toneelgroep Amsterdam on the facade of the Stadsschouwburg. The poster hung in the city in 1980 and has always remained Anthon’s most talked about poster. Anthon himself believed that he could no longer make a similar poster today. The former employees who had put on white overalls with the text “Adieu Anthon” on the back had actually wanted to hang it on the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, but they did not want to cooperate.
