Set designer Paul Gallis is blind in one eye. One day I saw him take off the patch he has over his eye. A scary face, confrontational. In this case, the starting point was: everything goes through the head. Excitement, hatred, everything. That’s what the eye of Gallis visualised. I wanted as much eye as possible and as I worked I found the answer. I allowed in the idea of the typographical cross, but I toned it down. The choice of colours also plays a role. Gold is aristocracy, making the image richer and more distant.
