Le nouveau salon des cent
catalogue for Museum Toulouse-Lautrec, 2001
In 2001, the hundredth anniversary of the death of the painter and graphic artist Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec (1864-1901) was commemorated with an ode by the hundred best poster designers from the whole world. At the invitation of the Toulouse-Lautrec Museum in Albi, I thought up this plan, the logistics of which alone were mind-boggling. One sent a model, another posted a photo and a third mailed a disc. Internet was not very common yet; the fastest way of communication was the fax. Designers are always busy, so I found a fun way to get them to answer. The posters were printed and collected in a box. The 100 posters are displayed everywhere; it started in Centre Pompidou in Paris and went all over the world.
