The cover was laid out like a newspaper. In order to emphasise that, the cover paper was used inside out and the outer side remained unprocessed (unlaminated) and grey: natural with black printing. The material and subject augmented each other perfectly. But the book did get scruffy. Later, the outside was laminated matt and even later glossy. A lot less eloquent. It lacked that precise tactile feeling that occurs in your unconscious between eyes and fingertips.
