With my exhibition Pennies from Heaven in Amsterdam’s Stedelijk Museum, I wanted to show that my work is the result of cooperation with several clients. One of them was Wim Beeren, who had just retired as director of the Stedelijk. Wim was a great admirer of the suprematist artist Kazimir Malevich. For one of his disciples, Nicolai Punin, Malevich designed a habit and painted him wearing it. I also regarded Beeren as a disciple, had the suit made again and put him in the same pose. Homage.
